“And now, straight from the Garden State, blogger ordinaire and undefeated champion of hammock lounging … Kiiiim Russellllllllllllllllllllll! (smattering of applause, someone in the back whistles)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. (smiles graciously, gives a little wave)
Happy Friday! Today is National Lemon Meringue Pie Day (I’m not a big fan of meringue, but if I have to choose a pie with meringue, it would be Key Lime Pie), and National Relaxation Day (obviously, I’m all in). I’m off of work this afternoon to commemorate.
Here’s the Friday 5! This week’s theme is “Ladies and gentlemen put your hands together for…“

- As you approach the mic to deliver some kind of speech, what’s your walk-up music?
My hype music belongs to WWE’s The Miz. It’s called I Came to Play. I pop in the earbuds and play it before big meetings and public speaking events. - Before your induction into some hall of fame, who introduces you?
Let’s shoot for the moon: “To help induct Ms. Russell into the Mundane Blogger Hall of Fame, here is Dave Matthews.”
Dave Matthews: (speaks enthusiastically yet unintelligibly) - Who’s writing the foreword in your autobiography?
ChatGPT. Just kidding! I think WM could do it. He has a very good way with words. - At a meal where your metaphorical heart is the main course, what’s a good appetizer?
Fava beans and a nice Chianti? Okay, okay, metaphorically, my heart’s main course is an amazing chicken parmigiana with a side of pasta, both doused in a flavorful red sauce. The appetizer would be fried calamari, but only the ring pieces. I don’t like the leggy bits — they gross me out. - If people had warning labels for cautioning new acquaintances, what might yours read?
Warning: Kim is very loyal, but is also very awkward about initiating contact. She does want to meet you, but is chronically in “I carried a watermelon” mode.
I have no set-in-stone plans this weekend other than going with WM to the mall to walk a bit. He’s getting a little better every day!
I have three blog post drafts in progress so on Monday you’ll either see Simple Abundance, Composting for Lazy People, or the first of an as-yet-untitled series about my oversized collection of coffee mugs. This is 100% old-fashioned, no-influencing blogging and if you’re here for it, I’m here for you.
