Friday 5 (on a Saturday!): In the can

Good morning and happy Saturday! Yesterday was my Friday off and I was a productive bumbleblee. I had Molly the Jeep inspected (she passed!), had her oil changed, went to lunch to celebrate my MIL’s birthday, tended to the vegetable garden, worked on July cards, and stayed outside reading my current book, Saint Mazie, until dark.

I love summer so much. It’s the best.

the words "angry Man Farms" roughly etched into very weathered wood, this is on the first garden bed WM built

By the time I stumbled inside I didn’t feel like writing. But that’s alright! Saturday morning is a lovely time to blog. I have a cup of Cafe Bustelo (from a K-cup, I’m still trash that way) and am ready to tackle yesterday’s Friday 5, which is themed In the can.

  1. What was the most recent meat product you consumed from a can?
We used canned chicken meat (like tuna, but chicken) in chicken salad earlier this week because it was umpty-thousand degrees out and cooking chicken was a hard no. Don’t sleep on canned chicken for salads.
  2. What was the most recent vegetable product you consumed from a can?
I’m more of a fan of frozen veg than canned veg but does Rotel count? It should. We use it in chili, and we had chili a few weeks back.
  3. What was the most recent fruit product you consumed from a can?
Since tomatoes are actually fruit, does Rotel count? It should. We use it in chili, and we had chili a few weeks back.
  4. What was the most recent beverage you consumed from a can?
Diet Dr. Pepper, my current favorite soda. I’ll probably always be thought of as a huge Mountain Dew fan but here in the back half of my life, it’s Diet Dr. Pepper all the way.
  5. What are you approaching this week with a can-do attitude?
We have a new hire at work and I’m partially responsible for making sure they are learning (so much to learn!) and get settled in.

Today I’m doing my normal Saturday chores: wash and change the bedsheets, vacuum, fridge clean, library run, and other chores as needed. I’m going to work on my July cards a bit more, and tonight I’m going to veg on the sofa with Skyrim for a few hours. I finally chose a faction (Stormcloak) and now I get to storm the city where I currently am Thane and own a house. That should be fun?

Enjoy your Saturday! ENJOY (northern hemisphere) SUMMER!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
