Friday 5: What color is your parachute?

Happy Friday! Today is National Hike with a Geek Day (toss me an invite!), National Kouign Amann Day (it’s a pastry! I know this from Disney Dreamlight Valley) and most importantly, the first day of summer.

friday june 20

I freaking LOVE summer. I’d love it more if it wasn’t raining every single day but dems the breaks. It’s giving a real “All Summer in Day” vibe here in South Jersey.

I’ve spent the week off of work being the caretaker to WM, who is healing nicely. ACL reconstruction surgery has a LONG recovery, therefore us getting the first tough week behind us is a milestone. We have a split-level house and while he can do steps (very slowly) he’s been living on the lower level and I’ve been bringing him food and drink and other things. I’m currently the legs of the relationship. I even mowed the lawn today!

Weight-wise I dipped into the 160s for the first time in quite some time. I can only laugh at how pitifully slow it’s going, but slow and steady wins the race.

And in case you’re wondering how Murphy the Medical Marvel is doing, this week he was diagnosed with an infected anal gland. He’s on doxycycline for two weeks.

It’s time for the Friday 5! This week’s theme is What Color is Your Parachute, which was a fantastic book even if I never ended up in jobs that I craved. I work to live, and my job 1) pays my bills nicely, and 2) has a mission to improve a facet of healthcare, not to stockholders.

  1. Which job on a film crew would you most like to do, and which would you be best suited for?
I think I would make a fantastic script supervisor/continuity person. I love to take notes and I’m very good at figuring out where things can go wrong.
  2. Which job on a hotel staff would you most like to do, and which would you be best suited for?
I would love to be a concierge, but I’m most suited for management and pencil-pushing.
  3. Which job in a hospital would you most like to do, and which would you be best suited for?
I would like to be a hospice volunteer in a hospital, but I’m probably most suited to be the hospitalist department manager. (smirk)
  4. Which job on a cruise ship would you most like to do, and which would you be best suited for?
I’d love to be the captain, but I’d probably make a halfway decent lecturer.
  5. Which job on a fashion magazine would you most like to do, and which would you be best suited for?
In no way would I want to work for a fashion magazine at all but if I had to choose I’d be the digital editor. I think that’s what I’d be most suited for.

And that’s it. I started writing this post at 9:30 am, was distracted by a million things, and came back at 10:15pm. Have a fantastic weekend!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
