Friday 5: The squared circle

Happy Friday, which the start of a three-day weekend for me! It’s also National Black Forest Cake Day (it’s okay) and National Triglycerides Day. In honor of that, I’ll share mine:

a screencap from my blood panel in 2024 featuring my trigycerides score: a lovely 106, within normal range.
HIPPA be damned!

That’s from May of last year. My annual appointment is next week. Whee.

Ye Gods, what a week. In the middle of a very stressy workweek (the conference is fast approaching, so much to do!), Molly’s battery died. That’s an easy fix but really? Yes, really, because her last battery was from 2018. I know that because WM and I email each other almost every work day so unless something happens during the summer, I’ll have an anecdotal record of it.

Let’s hit up the Friday 5! This week’s theme is The Squared Circle. I miss watching pro wrestling. I really need to get back into it.

  1. When did you most recently tag-team some activity or task?
Today, at work. We’re trying to figure out an anomaly in a number and it takes a village to find an anomaly.
  2. What has you in a headlock?
My email newsletter keeps omitting posts and I don’t know why because I’m not a python coder. Well, I have an inkling why and of course it’s my own fault, but I need to carve out the time on a weekend to test it out. The service is solid but my kingdom for a WYSIWYG editor. I’m also in a little bit of a writer’s block. Someone on one of the podcasts I listen to advised us to never edit while you’re writing and I think that’s why I’m so slow. I write, then I worry about a photo, then I have to put the alt-text in, then I have to proofread it before I move to the next idea. The good news is that I banged out a draft about Disneyland and it’s almost ready to go.
  3. What was the situation when you last had to tap out of (that is, give up on) a rough situation?
For the first time ever, I didn’t finish the last batch of Postcards to Voters by the deadline, I only sent 12 out of 15. I feel shitty about that but the last few weekends have been full.
  4. If someone handed you a microphone after a recent triumph in some mundane situation, what would have been your victory speech?
    I came, I saw, I called Triple-A! THANK YOU!
  5. If your upcoming weekend had a super-hyped title with a suffix like -alooza or -orama or -mania, what would this amazing weekend be called?
(Seattle friends’ last name)-apalooza! Some of our Seattle friends are visiting Philadelphia this weekend and we’ll be playing tourist alongside of them this weekend.

Let SeattleFriend-apalooza begin!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
