March cards

For my March card swap, I continued with February’s collage theme but went more nature-y.

I used to watch Youtube videos from card creators and their finished products are gorgeous and very well assembled. But they also all seem to be using the same products and creating mostly white cards with pops of color*. And for the first few years I made cards, I was creating a similar style but I wasn’t 100% happy until I realized that I like bolder designs. Once I re-learned that about myself, cardmaking became a LOT more enjoyable.

Technically they are far from perfect. I can be a lot more precise when I glue down. But working with the packet of ephemera I purchased (which is almost finished!) helped me to find content and color themes where I thought there were none. Which should help me utilize the supplies I already have rather than feeling the urge to buy something new for each month.

We’ll see how well this wisdom holds up in April.

*It’s because they’re design partners with craft companies and promote their products, and they promote the companies that pay higher. See also why influencers are all over the Stanley cup, when two years ago it was the Yeti cup, and two years prior to that it was a Hydroflask. I say this as someone who’s had the same S’well bottle for years.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
