Friday 5: Bizarro Cliché

Happy Friday! I’m blogging in between moving the lawn sprinkler around, because that is the person I’ve become.

A before-and-after of yesterday’s procedure.
I’m also trying to keep my mind off of the stitches in my gum from yesterday’s third-to-last dental implant step. This is the last one that involves cutting into my mouth, so I’m pleased to have made that milestone.

Young Murphy is doing well. He’s finally unclenching and settling in and hopefully realizing that this is his forever home. He’s currently sitting on the top of the (inside) steps looking out the door at the wide world. His humans are still bone tired. Ollie is … adjusting.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is Bizarro Cliché. (I copy-pasted that accented e and I’m not ashamed.)

1. The Magic Word is “please,” but what’s the magic gesture?

2. “Big D” is Dallas, but where is Big G?

I don’t know how to describe where the Big G is in a way that I can write on a blog that my FAMILY READS but how about a Certified G?

I love Enzo and Cass. I also love the resurgence of animated gifs. With a hard G.

3. Elvis Presley is the King of Rock and Roll, but who’s the king of your personal music collection?

Hate me if you will, but Dave Matthews, and now I can’t stop giffing.

Second place is Frank Sinatra.

4. The motherland is wherever you consider your family’s origins, but what’s the cousinland?

I have a cousin in the Marshall Islands, on the other side of the world from me, so the WORLD is my cousinland!

5. CBS calls itself the Tiffany Network, but what would you call the Walmart Network?

Pains me to say it, but TLC, which used to be called The Learning Channel but now boasts the following lineup of programming.

  • Counting On
  • My Big Fat Fabulous Life
  • Sister Wives
  • My 600-lb Life
  • Too Close to Home
  • Say Yes to the Dress
  • Long Lost Family
  • 90 Day Fiance
  • Long Island Medium
  • Tattoo Girls

Yep. Mind-boggling.

**
It’s going to be a good weekend. I have a reason to put on a pretty dress tomorrow, and the weather will be warm enough to pull weeds or something similarly exciting. I’m looking forward to having my first morning coffee of the season in my backyard!

Morning coffee never happened because the rain soaked my chairs. (sad trombone)

That “mind boggling” gif is amazing! And that’s exactly how I feel about TLC, too.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

I miss the old TLC. I used to love watching Trading Spaces and Home Time. I hope your weekend was great, too!

This was hilarious, despite my disapproval of your magic gesture. Do you know how many large-group photos at high-school events have been ruined by that gesture? Ugh. But I suppose that’s the subversive point of the gesture in the first place.

#2 was awesome. I would love to have seen you attempt that. 🙂

ps: be careful; you pasted the wp-admin edit link to this post, not the permalink. I edited the comment, not because I thought anyone would be able to be mischievous with it, but so people would get to read this without having to figure stuff out.

D’oh! Thanks for catching that! My other magic gesture was the bird, but that’s the sorry side effect of a lifetime in NJ.

    I like your (soft-g, always) GIFs. 😀

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
