Currently: Crossword puzzling

I loooooove crossword puzzles. I suuuuuuuck at crossword puzzles. A few months ago, I plunked down $40 ($40!) for the New York Times crossword app for my phone. It’s a lot of dough, but that $40 ($40?!) gives me the…

In the Unlikely Event book review

In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume My rating: 2 of 5 stars Forgive me, Judy, for I have sinned. I ended up skimming the second half of this book, and reading the last 3 chapters. I so looked forward…

Zumba class, week 1

I signed up for a Zumba class through my township’s recreation program. I went to one class almost exactly five years ago (Something about September that makes me do silly things to stave off mortality, I guess) and PREDICTABLY* never…

Throwback Thursday: September 1979

Kids these days with their measly Throwback Thursday pictures from 2 years ago. “BAH!” I say. The date on the back of the photo says September 1979, so it was probably August. (Back in my day, film was sent away…

The Crimson Petal and the White book review

The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber My rating: 4 of 5 stars How far can one socially climb in late 1800s England? How is the process different for a prostitute, a businessman, a widow, a sheltered wife,…

What's new?

Been a while, eh? I was reminded I had a blog by Google Webmaster tools. I don’t check my pageviews anymore, but it helpfully let me know my database was inaccessible a few days ago. I tweaked a few settings…

Fifty Shades of Grey book review

Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James My rating: 2 of 5 stars I feel like I read a completely different book than the rest of the world. Firstly, I thought Ana was pretty strong-minded. She negotiated the contract, tested…

We bought a house!

Reason # 1298437 why my blog will never make money — when Big Life Events happen, I stop writing. I can’t help it. I’m always afraid I’m going to jinx things. Short story: We finally found a house, bought it,…

Rabbit rabbit – back from National Harbor, MD

This post will fail my posting standards on two points: > There is no twee April Fool prank. When I was younger, I’d flip the site backward on April Fool’s, but this year I basically forgot what day it was….

I'm trade-publication famous!

I try very hard to separate work from blog, but I’m very proud and can’t let this go by without saying something… Last month, Associations Now magazine (official magazine of ASAE) interviewed my manager and me about how we manage…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
