Nikon Coolpix 4800. Just in time for… (smirk)
Otherwise, things have been calm. The weekend was calm. I called out sick today — private issue that I’m working on getting solved — so naturally I’m all a-freaky about going in tomorrow to the inevitable questions and backlog of work. I’ll cope.
I get 10 sick days a year. And I never really use more than 5. But there is a strong corporate culture at work of, “Oh…I came to work when I had [insert disease name here.]” Or, “So-and-so came in with a shattered ribcage and spine. Missed only an hour.” Or “So-and-so worked up until her water broke in the ladies room! And she beat her revenue goal to boot!” No wonder I feel guilty.
Flicks
I may be the only person in America who really doesn’t like to watch movies. For me to enjoy sitting in one spot for 2+ hours with my brain on autopilot, the movie has got to be riveting.
This weekend, we rented Napoleon Dynamite…a movie that I heard great things about. But we found it to be a tepidly plotless film. A few chuckles here and there. But nothing to write home about, and certainly not the ‘second coming of funny’ that I thought it would be. Pedro was funny. Napoleon was not.
I also watched “Labryrinth”, at the demand of co-worker Damon. (Not to be confused with the milllllllions of Damons out there.) Mildly entertaining. Crappy effects. Crappier acting. But the muppets rocked.
But for both of these movies, and MOST other movies, I can honestly say that I could have never seen them and lived just as happy and fulfilled a life. Or that I could have played World of Warcraft (drool) or read a book for an hour or two and enjoyed myself more.
That’s all for now.
