Happy Birthday to me!
Today I turn 31 years old. Officially in my 30s, if you’re one of those “there was no year zero” people. And although I awoke today with the same bug that I’ve had the last 2 weeks, I was happy to see 30 come to a close. Overall, it was a year of sadness and turmoil and growth. Not happy growth, but growth that comes from being pushed and pulled in directions you didn’t want to even explore. Welcome, 31.

Today there is a cheery “Happy Birthday” Banner taped across my cube walls. When you come into the office, it looks like finish line tape blocking off my cube. I was tempted to run through it victoriously. But I ducked beneath it, and muttered that I left my digital camera home.

Today there are no fantasticly attractive outfits. I sound like I’m about to hack up a lung. My head and muscles ache. But I’m smiling. Because it’s my birthday! 🙂

Mood: Remarkably happy. Still very sick. I could have very easily called out every day this week. But I sit at a desk all day. Who am I to complain?
Work docket: Hot Properties. I dunno what else. Not very focused on work.
Lunch: May indulge in a personal sized chicken mariachi pizza from Donato’s. I’m positive the Online and Marketing Departments will have cake for me. Hope it’s chocolate!
Afternoon: Have my Asheron’s Call cook, Bobbi Flay, whip up some apple pies for ingame birthday celebration. Then take a nap.
Evening: Dave Matthews Band show at 7:00 pm at the Tweeter Center in Camden. We have lawn seats, and I’m happy that it’s going to be warm-ish and not rain.

There are 4 songs I really want to hear tonight:

  • “Crash” — it’s a very sexy little number. “Touch your lips just so I know/In your eyes, love, it glows so/I’m bare-boned and crazy for you….”
  • “Crush” — this song makes me weak at the knees. I’m serious. “Lovely lady /I will treat you sweetly /Adore you I mean you crush me /It’s times like these /When my faith I feel /And I know how I love you” Read the rest here. I can’t or else I won’t be right for work. (splashes cold water on face)
  • “Two Step” — I’ve really grown sweet on this song this summer. “Celebrate we will/Because life is short but sweet for certain/We’re climbing two by two/To be sure these days continue”
  • “What Would You Say” — JUST for the “Mom it’s my Birthday” line.

Also I have the Aerlinthe quest at 1:00 am. Dierdre the Pain (now level 90) is scheduled to get the kill against the Dark Lady, get the global broadcast ingame, realize a 2 year ingame goal and be famous for a moment or three.

Weekend: All I have scheduled is dinner with David, Mom, and John tomorrow night. I hope to feel better so I can start picking up some slack around the house. David’s been doing everything while I slump on the sofa like a barely-stuffed Beanie Baby and cough.

Speaking of housework, here’s the Friday Five! (gotta love that segue)

    1. What housekeeping chore(s) do you hate doing the most?
Laundry, laundry, laundry.I detest every thing about it. Sorting. Washing. Ironing. Folding. Putting it away. Even taking it to the cleaners. If I could take my clothes off at night and have them mysteriously reappear in my room clean and folded, I’d be a happy girl indeed. That’s what David’s been doing for me lately though, so I don’t complain.

    2. Are there any that you like or don’t mind doing?
I don’t mind cleaning the kitchen and the bathroom. Maybe because they’re smaller, but I derive more satifaction from scrubbing a pot clean than by getting rid of almost invisible dust in the living/bedrooms. I think in the kitchen/bathroom you SEE your progress.

    3. Do you have a routine throughout the week or just clean as it’s needed?
Start with an inkling of a routine, but usually end up cleaning as needed.

    4. Do you have any odd cleaning/housekeeping quirks or rules?
    Nope.

    5. What was the last thing you cleaned?
I dunno. I’ve done not a stitch of housework since I went on vacation. Now that I’m home, I’ve been so out of it (sick) that I go home and sleep.

    Hello!

    About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

    Well, that happened.
