Friday 5: More questions about our favorite topic

friday, september 1

Rabbit rabbit! Happy September, which, blah. Even though it continues to be actual, official summer through September 22, I am trying to switch myself into an autumnal mindset. Today is also National Forgiveness Day (I forgive, I do not forget),…

An easy peanut brittle recipe

a bowl of peanut brittle, with Remy and Emil figurines watching approvingly

Peanut brittle is a ‘fancy’ candy I remember from my childhood but I don’t see it around much anymore. Occasionally I will make peanut brittle for friends (and us) to enjoy. I think candy can be something that’s very daunting…

Good and Meh: Week 34

Hey, not every blog post is a substack-quality work of art, okay? Good things: Monday: I went to the Phillies game with Mom & John and they won 10-4. Not only did they win, but we saw Bryce Harper hit…

Friday 5: Until it hurts

Happy Friday, and my last official Summer Friday of the season. Booooo! I’m not down the shore because it’s been raining off and on all day both here and there. Instead, WM and I had breakfast at a lovely twee…

TikTok made me do it: two songs and a cake

a frosted chocolate cake on a cooling rack, with a spatula and a tiny figurine of Remy from Ratatouille

Yes, I have a TikTok account. My TikTok content is 85% based on who I follow and the content that I like (Disney, nerdery, happy dancing, humor) and 15% completely random content. For example, I’m currently watching the entirety of…

Friday 5: Career Day

friday, august 18

Happy Friday, friends! Today is National Mail Order Catalog Day (I miss those) and National Fajita Day (I prefer tacos now.) I’ve had a mentally jangly few weeks for no explanation and I finally feel it ebbing. What’s been helping…

Friday 5: For argument’s sake

Happy Friday! Today was my summer Friday and I took Mom to the beach for the day. It was a good day; however, I think I have to find a new beach. I’ve been going to Margate for years and…

How I stopped destroying my nails

unpainted nails, the longest I've had them

I have always, always been a nail-biter and cuticle-picker. You can tell from the scant photos of my fingers on the Internet because I have almost always hidden them when showing pictures of me holding something. I have not destroyed…

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
