Hostess Photos

Sweet merciful crap this is a creepy page!

I guess you could say I was on the selfie bandwagon before it was a big deal. The hostess shot started over THIRTEEN FREAKING YEARS AGO!! when I decided to document EXACTLY how I looked when I updated the site (by hardcoding it in HTML, naturally) by snapping a quick webcam picture and uploading it to the website. Mind you, that state-of-the-art webcam of 2003 took worse photos than my cellphone does now. That changed awfully quickly, as I realized I usually looked like crap when I coded. Ponytail, glasses, fleece. It became really redundant.

And I used the term “hostess” at the time because it was a play off of “hosting” a website. It’s less funny now. You had to be there.

Since I blog a few times a week now (it used to be 3x per day!) I’ve updated the photo less and less frequently. I’m striving for one every 1-2 months now. I don’t have a webcam hooked up to my PC anymore, so the recent pics are either taken in my bathroom mirror, by someone else, or with my phone.

Crazy makeup, bad hair, thirteen years of terrifying aging…you name it…it’s here. I was much more into myself 13 years ago, that’s for sure.

I was 29 in the first photo. I am 43 in the latest one. Enjoy, you little voyeurs you!

Oh…and if my gratuitous hostess page can leave you with ONE inspirational message, let it be this: Hair grows back.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
