Friday 5: Turn the beat around

Look at me. June rolls around and I spend my evenings reading in a hammock instead of posting.

friday june 12

Slacker.

Today is National Loving Day (love is great!) and the 45th anniversary of the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark. That’s kind of a big deal around here.

It has been a week full of nonbloggable drama and I’m just really happy it’s THIS Friday instead of last Friday.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is Turn the Beat Around.

What do you do for stress relief?
I go outside and feel the sunshine. Ideally I’ll take a walk. I’ve walked a lot this week.

What do you do to get out of moodiness?
I don’t! I let it fester. That’s probably wrong but I’d rather it work itself through than try to rush it.

How do you get through a day while sleep-deprived?
I do the barest minimum and once I get through dinner, it’s to the sofa.

How do you calm down when angry or anxious?
I learned about Box Breathing during the thickest part of the pandemic when I thought we were all going to die. I breathe in for four beats, hold the breath for four beats, exhale for four beats, and be still for four beats. It really works!

How do you get your focus when you’re having difficulty focusing?
For work I’m a fan of the Pomodoro method — I set a timer for 20 minutes and focus on one task. If something else comes to mind, I write that down to deal with later.

At home, I try to whittle everything down to “what do I need to do next? It might be as simple as “go to the bathroom.” And then I figure out the next thing.

I’m going to the pool tomorrow! Don’t you love June? You should.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
