Friday 5: Someone else’s questions

Happy Friday! Today is National Coconut Cream Pie Day (not my favorite but I wouldn’t turn down a slice) and National Student Nurse Day (in this house, we love healthcare providers).

friday may 8

It’s also the Friday before Mother’s Day and it’s still difficult for me. It’s the weekend when that terrible little voice starts repeating: “You don’t have anyone to take you to the Phillies games, or to the shore, or out to dinner. Nobody will drive you around when you’re older. The only thing you’ll leave behind are belongings.”

It’s dark, but that’s life. Monday will be here soon enough.

Now that I went there, let’s whiplash over to the Friday 5, the theme of which is Someone Else’s Questions.

  1. If you could go back in time and murder anyone who’s ever lived, who would you choose? You’re not allowed to pick a certain German dictator from the 1940s.
I have ideas, but in the end I wouldn’t do it. I don’t condone murder.
  2. If you could have any super power, what would you choose — if it has to be something a human can do? For example, you could have super strength (because humans have strength) but you can’t have invisibility or flight (because humans can’t be invisible or fly).
That’s a heck of a restriction. I would choose the ability to effortlessly jump so high and so far and land with such precision and lightness that it would appear that I am flying, when really I’m just exceptionally good at long jumping. Which humans do.
  3. What super power do you already have?
I’m very good at precisely tearing paper.
  4. Who was your first celebrity crush?
    Jason Bateman in Silver Spoons.
  5. Which politicians do you find physically attractive?
Most US politicians are over 75 years old so my local selection is limited. But I think Zohran Mamdani has a dazzling smile.

And that’s it for this week. Be kind to yourselves this weekend, especially if Sunday is complicated for you too.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
