Friday 5: Three bags fool

Happy Friday! Today is National Film Score Day (I don’t have a favorite but WM’s is, naturally, Raiders of the Lost Ark), and National Tweed Day (dashing, but not for me.) It’s also TNP’s official “office holiday” to celebrate another fantastic annual conference.

The conference went very well, at least from what I saw while working my various posts. I flew to Nashville last Saturday and arrived home Wednesday night. Nashville isn’t my favorite place to be and unless WM is dying to visit there, I won’t be planning a return trip anytime soon. Let’s just say I have country music/cowboy boot fatigue.

This morning we had breakfast out, and I stopped by the library to pick up a few more books. I don’t think any of them will touch Wuthering Heights. It’s been years since a book had me gasping like I did at the wild behavior and events of the terrible Earnshaw/Heathcliff/Linton families and their equally terrible household staff. What a beautiful trainwreck.

Murphy’s low-fat diet seems to be helping his GI issues. It’s slow-going but I see improvement from when we started the new diet last Wednesday.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is Three Bags Fool. WM, who is also off today because it’s the start of his spring break, is playing along.

  1. When were you last fooled by something you saw online?
WM: I bought a lightweight flannel shirt from the TikTok shop, and the fabric was so bad it was see-through. I ended up returning it. In it’s defense, it was very lightweight.
Me: Also a TikTok shop purchase: a tee with three raccoons worshiping a can of Diet Dr. Pepper. The quality was TERRIBLE. It was advertised as a screen-printed, but it was a super-stiff vinyl decal which was already starting to peel. I’ve had better quality tees from the Jersey shore.
  2. At this moment, what are you full of?
    WM: Coffee.
Me: Strawberry cheesecake pancakes from breakfast. (If you’re wondering how my diet’s going, I think I gained some back. I begin anew on Monday.)
  3. What is the most beautiful thing you saw this week?
WM: You when you got home Wednesday night.
Me: Awww!! And you when I got home Wednesday night! And Murphy.
  4. What is the most philanthropic thing you’ve done recently?
WM: Writing numerous letters of recommendation for college applications and the National Honor Society.
Me: I went above and beyond to connect someone at the annual conference with a potential mentor.
  5. When did you last have any kind of flu?
    WM: Last spring.
Me: I can’t remember the last time I had flu. The vaccines work for me.

I’m off on Monday and Tuesday, and once I’ve made it through my Easter obligations, I fully intend to relish my mini spring break.

Previous Post Wordless Wednesday 2026: Week 13

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
