Friday 5: Somewhere, waiting for me

Happy Friday! Today is National Stuffing Day (I’m a Stove Top fan, won’t even lie) and National Gingerbread Cookie Day! It’s also the end of a long week. I’m getting better, WM has been sick, energy level is low, low, low. This weekend I have to pull it together and go, go, go because next week is Thanksgiving and I need to ho, ho, ho.

  1. In your personal or professional life, which ship has sailed?
Personally, I don’t think I’ll ever own a beach house. If I had stayed married the first time I could have swung it (maybe?) but that lil’ life reboot in ’06 made it pretty much impossible. Same with having a DVC (Disney Vacation Club) membership. These days I’m just happy to have one house, even if it won’t be paid off for 20 more years.

Professionally, changing the world. I’m not as influential as I thought I’d be at this age (thanks to the lil’ career reboot in ’12) and I think I’m just going to be a mid-level manager for the rest of my days. Again, these days I’m just happy to have a job.
  2. What are you testing the waters in?
Advocating for myself in various situations.
  3. When did you most recently swim against the current?
Swim? How about float? While on vacation I rented a float so I could disassociate upon the blue seas and despite all of my efforts, the current kept pushing my float into the buoys. First world problems.
  4. What’s gotten you into hot water?
My mouth. It’s always my mouth. (See #2.)
  5. Which current pop-culture topic has you out to sea?
I don’t watch any of the Bravo programming so whenever Real Housewives or Below Deck chatter picks up I’m out of the loop. Same when BravoCon occurs each year.

Have an amazing weekend! I’ll be making cookie dough, assembling cards, and possibly sizing vacation photos to share next week.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
