The Mug Life Chose Me #2: The Hearthstone Mug

I’ve had this mug for almost sixteen years (!!) which is kind of wild when I stop to think about it. Given to me as a gift back when World of Warcraft was still dominating my evenings, this is one of the few pieces of game merch that has lasted this long. (The other ones are the original Pepe plush and my hearthstone earrings, which I wear home from every long distance trip.)

If you’ve played WoW, you know what a hearthstone means. It’s the way home, an instant portal back to safety at your favorite inn. Seeing it always gives me the same safe “I’m home” feeling.

Some of my mugs end up in the “honorably retired” category, and this one’s made it there. The tiny handle only ever fit two fingers, which made it a little risky to hold when full of hot coffee. I loved using it, but I decided to give it a gentler role.

These days, the Hearthstone mug is home to a small artificial plant and lives on a shelf above my desk, alongside two other retired mugs. It’s no longer part of the daily rotation, but it still gets to be seen and appreciated. It adds a touch of green to my workspace and holds the warm memories of all of those good WoW years.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
