Friday 5: We’ll be right back after this

Happy Friday! Today is National Chianti Day, National Cheese Pizza Day, and my 53rd birthday! Happy birthday to me! I survived yet another trip around the sun and am ready to celebrate.

friday september 5 - there is confetti on the date

I spent a good chunk of today at the Philadelphia Art Museum. It was sunny, I had money on my transit card, so why not?

I hadn’t been there in over twenty years and have never gone solo. It’s a whole new ballgame when you’re only responsible for yourself! I even took the free tour! I saw Van Gogh’s Sunflowers! Even though I walked over 11,000 steps, it was a lovely way to wrap up a week off work. It was a stressful work week, even though I wasn’t technically there. You’ll have to trust me on that one.

Tonight we’ll have pizza (not cheese), soda (not Chianti), and cake. I made Smitten Kitchen’s Chipwich Ice Cream Cake and I can’t wait to cut into it.

Here’s the Friday 5! This week’s theme is We’ll Be Right Back After This.

  1. What was recently interrupted?
My idyllic week off from work.
  2. What could you use a break from?
    Executive Branch idiocy.
  3. What would get you to continue that long-unfinished project?
I currently don’t have a long-unfinished project. Instead, I have long-unstarted projects. And they’re big ones: concrete work, electric box upgrades, replacing the downstairs carpet with laminate. Big projects require money and with the cost of everything rising (see question 2), what would get met to start them is either an influx of cash or an end to inflation. I spent six dollars on a donut and a soda today.
  4. When did you last attend something that had an intermission?
The Phish concert I attended in July had an intermission. I think I still have a contact high from that evening.
  5. What’s your favorite way to spend a lunch break?
Walking! When I was still in the office I’d walk up and down Spring Garden Street. Now that I’m a WFH hermit, I walk Murphy at lunch. My second favorite way to spend a lunch break is by taking a decadent midday shower.

Fifty-three years and still kicking!

I have another Mug Life post in the queue for Monday. Have a FANTASTIC weekend and send me some good workplace vibes, okay? You’re the best.

Previous Post Wordless Wednesday: Week 36

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
