Friday 5: Geez I’m sorry

Happy Friday! Today is National Alphabet Magnet Day (yup, had them as a kid) and National Sleepover Day (never had one or went to one). It’s also the start of Mother’s Day weekend, which I always try to be positive about but somehow end up emotionally wrecked about. WM brought home a pink rose for me. 🙂

The world received its first Pope from the USA yesterday and as I live and breathe I never though I’d see that happen. Certainly there are countries with more devout Catholics than here? I’ve been a lapsed Catholic for about 25 years now and I’m still pretty stoked. He’s also the first Pope who is younger than my parents, which is strange and a little frightening. Pope Leo XIV seems like he’s into “safe, loved, and warm” as well.

This week’s Friday 5 theme is Geez I’m Sorry, let’s gooooo!

  1. What was the nature of your most recent change in diet or eating habits?
I have been on a diet since September and am still going strong-ish. We are using MyFitnessPal to keep track of calories. A caloric deficit is the only thing that works for me. I am not on Wegovy or any other weight loss injection because I love to eat, and I don’t want to have a day ‘off’ and pay for it in the bathroom. I’m currently down 22 lbs which is very slow, but meh. I was planning on being alive anyway, so being alive and a little lighter is nice.
  2. What do you consider (in order of importance) when finding a new hairstylist or barber?
Someone who will listen to what I want and only make suggestions that enhance what I want. We’ve all had the hairstylist that has cut much more off than you wanted. That’s an instant out for me. I love my current stylist.
  3. Which of your childhood friends would you like most to hear from this weekend?
Since I met with a group of HS friends in March, we’ve kept an informal group chat rolling. It’s been quiet since April. I should poke at it.
  4. When have you most recently been asked to drive someone somewhere, and when have you most recently needed someone else to drive you somewhere?
Without going too deep, I’ve been sharing the family chauffeur-to-the-doctors business for two weeks now. Maybe two more weeks to go.
  5. How’ve you been sleeping lately?
Very well. Some nights I run a bit hot, but a glug of cold water and a little bit of love from my favorite fan is enough to knock me out.

Have a lovely one!

If you’re reading down here, I’ve tucked in a tiny confession for you. I hate being called a dog mom.

Previous Post A touristy weekend in Philadelphia

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
