Friday 5: Magically Delicious & Darn

(Kim stares blankly at the blog page)

friday may 2

My friends, it’s been a bumpy few weeks here and I can’t even go into why yet because it’s not my story to tell. Rest assured, people are slowly healing but I’ve been pushed into a little bit of a caretaker role and y’know…I’m just not good at it. I’ll also be a bit of a caretaker this summer as well, but that is scheduled and I’ll be prepared. This one was a surprise. I’m just thankful I work from home.

Our conference in Las Vegas went very well. It’s long hours and a lot of work that’s outside of most of our comfort zones but it’s also fun. Las Vegas is … well … Las Vegas. Next year we’ll be back in Nashville, which ehhhhhh. Not my scene.

Let’s catch up this on last week’s AND this week’s Friday 5 questions and this weekend I’ll get back to chronicling what’s been going on. This week’s theme is Magically Delicious.

  • When did you last send someone a heart emoji in a message, and what color was it?
I sent WM a heart emoji while flying home from Las Vegas last Friday and it was red. I’m aware that different heart colors mean different things, but I really only use red to express love or blue when I’m being political.
  • When were you most recently over the moon?
I had a fantastic meal at Alexxa’s in Paris Las Vegas. It was Wild Mushroom Agnolotti and I really really, REALLY enjoy mushrooms in food now. This was so good.
  • When you draw a five-pointed star, which of the star’s points do you begin and end with?
I couldn’t explain it so I made a little animation in Canva. I’m very proud of this. Please clap.
an animated gif of a pencil drawing a five pointed star. it begins at the bottom left point
  • When did you last walk barefoot in clover (or some other grass-like groundcover)?
Today! Out in my backyard. I planted herbs and the grass (and clover) looked so cool and lovely that I kicked off the yard Crocs. I’m not sure I believe fully in the concept of grounding but it does make me feel better.
  • Do you have any lucky charms?
In World of Warcraft, the hearthstone is a trinket that instantly teleports you back to a your inn of choice. I have a little pair of hearthstone earrings that I wear when I travel home and I like to think they will guarantee I return safely

And last week’s theme was Darn.

  1. When did you most recently (or most memorably) repair (or temporarily fix) an article of clothing?
Does looping an errant string back into sweatpants count? Because my clothing doesn’t have much structure and it’s been a long time since I’ve had to repair. But last week I ‘fixed’ my sweatpants string.
  2. When were you most recently somewhat annoyed by your own forgetfulness?
Today I unplugged Mom’s TV to see if being unplugged for a while would fix an issue (I believe) it has and I forgot to plug it back in. She did it.
  3. What are some of your favorite words to use in place of curse words?
People DO that? Not me. I let the curse words fly. I do like the word “heckin'” though.
  4. How was your week?
I had a bumpy time transitioning back to EDT and my right ear is still slightly backed up from the flight. I can hear just fine but when this sucker finally pops it might kill me. Work was quiet, but I had a difficult time focusing because the rest of life was not quiet. I took today off to dig in the gardens a bit and try to ground myself so I can be the Best Kim next week.
  5. Among items on your to-do list, which could you take care of right now, with minimal effort?
Pay my credit card bills. It all can be done via my phone.

This week I’ll post about a weekend we spent in Philadelphia with friends and my new planner cover! Thanks for being patient. 🙂

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
