Happy Friday, which is also National Periodic Table Day and National Fettuccine Alfredo Day. WM and I were talking not long ago about how neither us had any use for anything we learned in Chemistry class in our adult lives. Atoms have rings of electrons around them. There are rules as to how many electrons are on each ring. More electrons than protons (or vice versa) makes the atom charged. If you’re into the periodic table, you can buy a beach towel from the American Chemical Society. Gotta love the non-dues revenue!
What a frickin’ week, chock full of nonbloggable crap. I made good on my promise to call my representatives. On Tuesday I left messages with my senators (Kim and Booker) to push back in any way they can against DOGE’s actions. I told Booker to be a little bit more of a leader on social media rather than a complainer. And I spoke live with a staffer at Congressman Norcross’s office. He was very kind and that office was the only one to respond to me via email.
Let’s tackle the Friday 5! This week’s theme is The pompatus of love. Today I learned that pompatus is a word Steve Miller made up for his song The Joker. It means pomp and splendor.
- Who in your life is a real joker?
Hahahhahah. Nope. - When did you take the money and run?
The last time I gambled in Atlantic City, which was in June of 2023. TNP’s Annual Conference is in Las Vegas this year so perhaps I’ll have a chance to try again. - Whose music is rock’n you this week?
I’ve been listening to Grammy winners this week. Doechii’s album was a lot of fun. - When do you next expect to be on a jet airliner, and where do you expect it will take you?
In early March, I’ll be flying cross-country. To where? You’ll see! - Which movies set in jungles do you love?
Love is a strong word because I don’t love a lot of movies. Romancing the Stone was good, the Jumanji remake was a lot of fun, The Lost City (2022) was great!
Have a wonderful weekend!
The Jumanji remake and its sequel were both surprisingly outstanding. They were among my comfort films during the lockdown and the dark year following. I hope there’s another sequel. 🙂
Haha – pompatus. 😀
I just discovered Doechii also. Did not watch The Grammys but did listen to an excellent 2+ hour discussion on Trevor Noah’s podcast (What Now?), that he had with the Executive Producer. Great stuff, behind the scenes stuff, heartwarming stuff. And convinced me to go find some Doecchi.
