Happy, erm, Sunday! I was spending Friday down the shore with Nephews A and B and their entourage and by the time I got home I was more snoozy than bloggy.
Today’s plans include pickling some jalapeno peppers from the garden and seeing if I can change the fan belts on Mom’s vacuum. Hopefully some beer and hammock time later on while I try to fight off Sunday evening work anxiety.
Here’s what I should have been doing on Friday – the Friday 5! This week’s proverbial theme is A stitch in time keeps the doctor away.
- A well-known proverb begins, “Early to bed, early to rise…” How would you complete it so it’s descriptive of (not prescriptive for!) your life?
That’s basically a description of my life now. I fall asleep earlyish (compared to my younger years) and wake up early (again, compared to my younger years) on my own.
WM: “because I gotta work to pay for burgers and fries.” - A well-known proverb begins, “If at first you don’t succeed…” How would you complete it so it’s descriptive of (not prescriptive for!) your life?
I complain and mutter to myself, and look online to see where I’ve messed up and what potential solutions exist. This happens often with my Alexa system and the light bulbs we have attached to it. The power flickers due to a storm, and then we end up with one or two bulbs that don’t want to get back onto the system.
WM: Curse out the person whose fault it is, especially when it’s me. - A well-known proverb ends, “…is the best policy.” How would you begin it so it’s descriptive of (not prescriptive for) your life?
I’m still going to go with honesty. Life offers a continuous supply of drama which makes it easy to jump into the fray, but now I am too old and too sweaty to care.
WM: Medication.
Me: And using lube. Honestly. Everything’s easier with lube. - A well-known proverb ends, “…is the spice of life.” How would you begin it so it’s descriptive of (not prescriptive for!) your life?
Me: GARLIC. Put it in anything that’s not meant to be sweet and it makes the food even better.
WM: Chili powder. - A well-known proverb ends, “…is the best medicine.” How would you begin it so it’s descriptive of (not prescriptive for!) your life?
Me: By their powers combined, Nyquil and Pepto Bismol take care of every run of the mill medical problem I run into.
WM: Extreme social distancing.
And that’s it!

Clever, the way you use the word “run” twice in that last response. 🙂
