Happy Friday, which is also World Sea Turtle Day, International Day of the African Child, and National Fudge Day! It is also my second Summer Friday of 2023. My standing plan to go to the shore was squashed by rain, but it gave me time to putter around the garage (it’s still daunting, but 20 minutes a few days a week is making a difference) and go out to lunch with WM, who is wrapping up the school year and had a half-day. I also paid bills, which is scintillating.
It’s time for the Friday 5! This weeks’ theme is euphemisms for romance repurposed for food, which is a mouthful. (TWSS!) But food is one of my favorite things, so let’s get to it!
- What do eat when you need something hot and heavy?
Nothing is hotter and heavier than a meaty lasagna. - When did you last go to bed with something edible?
Murphy sleeps in bed with us so snacking in bed at home is verboten, but when I was in Atlantic City for the MASAE conference last week, I packed Pepperidge Farm Mint Milano cookies and ate them in bed at the end of a long day. It was a decadent treat. - What’s an enjoyable meal that requires you to get busy?
Any meal with shrimp or clams because they require you to work to get to the tasty meat. - With which dining establishment do you think you could go steady, at least until the end of the year?
It’s not my favorite, but The Cheesecake Factory has a menu so large that I could probably eat something different every visit for a very long time. - With which snack would you like to have a summer fling?
Frozen yogurt with all of the toppings. I love it with hot fudge, marshmallow, sno-caps, and crumbled Snickers bars.
