Throwback Thursday: December 1973

Rabbit rabbit! I’m glad it’s October because September well and truly sucked. Yuck.

No date on the back of this one, but I’m positive it’s Christmas 1973. This is an actual Polaroid picture. For the younger readers, this is what Instagram is trying to emulate.

All those gifts are for meeeee!
All those gifts are for meeeee!

I’m 15 months old and barely standing. The story goes that I was held back from walking until the folks could get carpet installed. But I know me, so I’m going to chalk that up to laziness/clumsiness.

Items of note:

  • Bells tied to the baby shoes.
  • You can barely see the terrifying unpadded 1970s-era high chair in the background.
  • The dress is likely handmade. Not because of a twee pinterest-maker wannabe desire, but because it was the 70s and that’s what working class families did.

Almost ALL dresses were still handmade back then. I often tease my wife about the ones she’s wearing in her old pictures, saying she looked like Holly Hobbie.

It never goes over well and usually get punched, but it’s all in fun.

    Hello!

    About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)
