Today is my half birthday – a milestone I started observing as little kid when birthday parties consisted of cake and ice cream in little cups. Now my birthdays still have cake, but I’ve swapped the ice cream for a nice glass of red wine.
Friends, after today I will be closer to 40 than 39. And that’s…okay. I just wish that inside I felt more like a cocky 30-year-old instead of a 15 year old constantly afraid of making someone mad or doing something “wrong”.
More than that, I wish I could still wear awesome shoes.
I like to think that the inner-teen phenomenon is more common than not. It helps me be more understanding of others.
Hm. Maybe tonight I’ll have a cupcake and a half a glass of wine…

Ya know, as much as you try to fight it, time will win. Having just turned 43 I’m beginning to realize that I can’t throw a baseball quite like I used to, I’m putting off running as long as I can (despite having a few 5ks coming up), and my disposition is getting progressively worse. I try not to let those things happen but ya know, it’s hard.
That said, enjoy the last days of your 30s 🙂
