October 20, 2003 – from WDW

Aloha! Blogging LIVE from the lobby here at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

Yesterday, we had lunch at DisneyQuest (David: Snickers Cheesecake, Coke; Kim: fudgy cupcake, cafe mocha) Then we meandered over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom for what turned out to be the last 1.5 hours of it’s operating day. Spent some time seeing the fauna around the Tree of Life. It’s a nice place to meander. Then on the way to experiencing the Kilamanjaro Safari, we stumbled RIGHT across the parade. Bonus!! Mickey’s Jamming Jungle parade, it’s called, and I like it because it’s short.

The safari was great — we caught the poachers. Again. Then we purchased a few pins for our collection, got my Magical Moments pin replaced, and took the bus back to the Poly.

And promptly left the bag of pins on the bus. D’oh!

Hakuna matata.

We called WDW dining and redid the priority seatings. So last night we went to ‘Ohana (means family) and experienced all you can eat appetizers and meat on skewers. I had shrimp and turkey. David had everything but shrimp. Drank a bit at the bar afterwards, and I vaguely recall fireworks on the walk back to the room.

Today: Woke at 8:30ish. I had no voice. David quietly rejoiced. 🙂 Eventually, the voice returned. We went to the Magic Kingdom an hour later, and the first attraction we experienced was Mickey’s Philharmagic. It’s a 3D movie of sorts, wherin Donald Duck manages to muck up things as only Donald can. We adored it…it’s about time WDW did something to bring the older characters back into the spotlight.

Got a Fastpass for Peter Pan’s flight. Ate at Columbia Harbor House (chicken strip meals, coke, water). Did Peter Pan, Got a FP for Space Mountain. Did Carousel of Progress, and the People Mover (its’ not called that anymore). Got a FP for Buzz, did Space Mountain. FUN! Passed on Buzz. Walked to Mickey’s toontown Fair. Took train to Main St. Experienced 2 chocolate chip cookies. Headed back to Poly via water launch JUST as the rain fell.

Will now head back to room, and get ready for 5:30 dinner at Artist Point.

Summary: We’re having a blast. Wish you were here!

Aloha!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
