Maximillian is ours! The adoption app went through. I went to visit the boy yesterday and after peeing on every shred of grass, he seemed quite happy to see me. The staff at the Orphanage bathed and groomed him for us, and without the matted hair he’s quite a handsome pup! I spent about an hour with him. Half of that was him sitting on my lap for some long-overdue scritches. I’ll be back to see him on Wednesday, and we take him home on Friday. His full name is Maximillian Ulgrim Turberville. Maximillian is a name that gives David the pompous-type name that he enjoys bestowing upon animals, but lets me abbreviate to Max. Ulgrim is a character in Asheron’s Call — a roving drunk adventurer, and generally the most entertaining NPC (non-player-character…nobody plays him, he’s part of the game) in the game.
More on the pet front…Charlie went to the vet yesterday to get caught up on his shots. “That is the biggest cat I’ve ever seen,” remarked the receptionist. “That’s one big cat!” said the doctor. “Fat?” David asked? “No,” the vet replied. “Just large. Long, too.” So I hereby retract all of my “Charlie is fat” statements that I’ve made here. The doc said to keep him on the ‘diet’ food, but he probably won’t lose weight because he’s just fine. Who knew? Misty goes on Monday.
There are just two people in this building, Clark and “Spot News”, who know when I’m late to work. They are both on vacation this week. Of course, these past two days I’ve glided into work totally on time. Life’s not fair.

Non-blog-able worries have returned, but they’re still only minor worries at that. Unfortunately, they’ll persist until mid-September.
And get-well-for-the-love-of-God-don’t-leave-me-here-alone-much-longer wishes to Damon, who really messed up his back and was out yesterday and probably today.
Wt: 139.8. That’s uncomfortably close to 140. I’d better get on the stick, since I’m going away (again) the end of next week.
Mood: Pleasant, if a bit sleepy. I slept in three 2 hour shifts last night.
Work docket: Static’s done. They didn’t upload a picture, so guess what? They’re not getting one. Tired of babying people here. Will update ‘hand’ and ‘dateline’ sections. Do promo stuff for the new “Reader Rewards” contest page. And MAYBE get some work done on the Community Guide database. I’d love to get that up and running before I go away.
Lunch: Smart Ones meal.
Afternoon plans: To the gym. Really! Then update LadyGypsy.net with new Freezerburn entries and some Max info.
Evening: David’s going in at 9 pm tonight. PLUS the Lucky mag fall fashion issue came yesterday. I think I’ll be having a ‘bed night’ tonight. 🙂 “Bed Night” is where I get in my nightgown early on, and retreat to the bedroom with a bottle of water, some reading material, and a few cats in tow. It’s like a spa for the soul.
