Friday 5: Who needs a theme?

Rabbit rabbit! Happy May! Or as I like to think of it: Pre-June.

Today is National Chocolate Parfait Day (yes please!) and National Mother Goose Day (mkay). I was also off work today, using up some of my comp days from the conference.

Here is my list for today:

List title: Kim's Fabulous Day Off

(checked box) Gym + Black Card add-on + coffee
(checked box) Goodwill Drop off
(checked box) Library
(checked box) Lunch - sushi!
(checked box) Wash blankets
(unchecked box) Occasionette?
(unchecked box) Watercolor
(checked box) (redacted email address for a birthday gift card
(checked box) Pick up M's pants

Despite using their notepad, I didn’t make it to Occasionette (I didn’t feel like dealing with Collingswood parking). I also didn’t watercolor because I decided to begin laundering my sofa cushion covers instead. A typical day off activity, right?

I had cleaned them before by steam cleaning but decided to toss them into the washer because why not? I own it. If I ruin it, I’d buy slipcovers or something. I’m an adult!

They came out beautifully. Tomorrow I’ll wash the seat cushions. I also decided to add more stuffing to the back cushions because after 4 years they’re pretty mushy. I didn’t have enough stuffing so I ordered more from Amazon (RIP JoAnn). And because I am TERRIBLE with size/weight/etc I ordered six and a half pounds. That’s a lot of stuffing. We’ll see what this box looks like tomorrow.

Today’s Friday 5 theme is Who Needs a Theme? Not this girl!

  1. What is your least favorite episode of your favorite (or a favorite) television show?
Since Ted Lasso is back in the news, I did not enjoy when Ted was spiraling about his ex-wife dating and asked Rebecca to hire a PI to follow them in Paris. Ugh. That really colored my view of him for the rest of the series.
  2. What are some of your favorite struggle meals?
Buttered noodles. A can of soup with bread and butter or saltine crackers.
  3. What movie do you like despite its starring actors you dislike?
I like most of Tom Cruise’s movies, but I think he’s insufferable and brainwashed. Katie Holmes needed to plan for six months — with secret lawyers and burner phones — to get herself and her daughter away from him, and I don’t think people talk about that enough.
  4. What areas of your life are trending upward?
I am getting back into the swing of exercising and eating better again. And of course, summer is on the way. I am the best version of myself in spring and summer.
  5. For a playlist of songs that make you feel good, what are the first five songs you’d add?
I’ve already done this! I have a Spotify playlist called Unapologetic Fun that I started in 2012. The first five songs are: “Vibeology” by Paula Abdul; “Womanizer” and “(You Drive Me) Crazy” both by Britney Spears; “Groove Is in the Heart” by Dee-Lite; and “California Love” with 2Pac and Dr. Dre. I’ll put the entire playlist below.

And that is that! I know I was quiet this week, but I was wiped out this week with nothing to say. I’ll figure out more for next week.

Enjoy your weekend, and have some Unapologetic Fun!

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
