(yawn) EARLY morning blog

(yawn) EARLY morning blog. I got into work early this morn (5ish) because I have to be at Cooper River at 7:00am, and I have some stuff to kick out before then. 🙂

Wt: 138.4
Mood: Too sleepy to discern my own mood
Work docket: Hot Properties (waiting for ads), IRA Regatta coverage, finish Voter Guide. (For which I didn’t get the info until noonish yesterday…good thing primary elections are generally uneventful)
Lunch plans: Unsure. There’s an hour break in racing from 10:00 – 11:12 am, so I may go and grab a salad then. There’s also rumor that someone else will cover the afternoon and I’ll be back here at 10:00. This will be my third regatta, and I’ve learned NEVER to depend on somebody coming to relieve me on time.
Afternoon: YMCA
Evening: Unknown

And today’s Friday Five:
1. What do you most want to be remembered for?
Being a kind person who could make people smile.

2. What quotation best fits your outlook on life?
“My philosophy is this, if you don’t have a good sense of humor, you’re better off dead.” — Roger Rabbit.

3. What single achievement are you most proud of in the past year?
Losing the 41 pounds, because I tried a few times before to do it, and failed each time. It took a lot of discipline, willpower, organization, and planning. These are four traits that I feel I’m weak in. Everytime I see a ‘before’ picture, I cringe, but then I smile. I’m extremely proud of that.

4. What about the past ten years?
My tenure as Public Affairs Director at WGLS-FM, Rowan’s radio station. I recorded/scheduled PSAs, did news coverage, had a 3-hour daytime music shift, and booked/produced a LIVE weekly talk show. The show was boring as hell, but the fact that I managed to overcome my shyness and do that is something that I’m proud of.

5. If you were asked to give a child a single piece of advice to guide them through life, what would you say?
Don’t be afraid to be yourself, because it doesn’t matter what other people think of you. Now, to be specific, that doesn’t mean to feel free to be impolite or disrespectful…it means that you can be a unique individual and still fit into society.

Hello!

About Me

I've been blogging for over twenty (2 decades! 2-0!) years and I'm apparently one of the few over-50 female bloggers who haven't sold out to THE MAN yet; hence this blog remains quirky, homespun, and unprofitable. No big. However, if you're from Disney, Doritos, or Dave Matthews Band, I'm open to talk about selling out.

I live in Southern New Jersey with my husband WM, and our dog Murphy. I'm an adult who likes Disney but not a Disney Adult. I used to work a fun (really!) office job in Philadelphia, but since March of 2020 I'm a work from home hermit. So if you're looking for a childless, slightly round, marginally boring GenX woman's blog to follow, you've come to the right place! :)

Well, that happened.
